About Us
Haley and Kayla
Welcome to Mockingbird Billing! We are Haley and Kayla. We have been married since 2020, and currently reside in Utah. We love mental health and are passionate about working with private practices, like the one we own together. We have loved adding Mockingbird Billing to our businesses, and enjoy networking with other private practice owners all over the United States. As queer women, we love the empowerment that comes with being a minority in business and the other strong humans we get to meet in our work. Haley has her degree in Business and Finance, and has been the foundation for our billing services. She has experience billing in mental health, residential facilities, assisted living, and more. Kayla has her degrees in Clinical Social Work. This allows her to be well-versed in credentialing processes, coding for mental health, diagnoses, and licensing for clinicians.
Our Ohana comes from the Hawaiian Islands and the spirit of Aloha is something that is important to us in our business. We want everyone we work with to feel like part of our little family, where we work through love and acceptance. When we are not running our businesses, we love being outside with our horses, our great dane, and our mini dachshund. We love to spend as many weekends as we can, camping and traveling. We have a love for all things nerdy…Marvel, Harry Potter, Jigsaw Puzzles, Legos, and board game nights. We love being outdoor, spending time with friends and families, and winning at Cornhole. Our favorite way to end our nights is with a glass of wine, and our favorite shows. We hope you’ll join us on our mission to make mental health more affordable, more accessible, and more inclusive. We can’t wait to meet you!
Why We Created Mockingbird Billing
Haley and Kayla started their own mental health practice before ever dreaming up Mockingbird Billing. Kayla’s social work degrees, combined with Haley’s business and finance degree, made for a perfect foundation for a thriving mental health practice. Throughout our experience with our private practice we took note of all of the things that were not taught during Kayla’s masters. I knew how to do the therapy, but was never taught how to run insurance, credential with insurance panels, handle claims, and client payment problems. It was overwhelming and took hours to get setup and maintain. We realized there were so many other private practice owners that were losing valuable time doing what they love, and the important work they do, because they were having to handle the business aspects of their practice. This is why we decided to create Mockingbird Billing. We are passionate about mental health, and root for people starting out in the private practice field. We know first-hand how needed more private practices are in EVERY state. Mockingbird Billing aims to make the business side of private practices easier, more cost effective, and a more positive experience so that clinicians can focus on what is most important. We know first-hand how stressful, scary, and expensive starting a practice can be. Let us help you make it easier! We have gone through the work to learn the best way to be successful in a private practice, along with all the bumps in the road that may arise, so that you don’t have to!
